World Bank funded Thimphu Urban Development Project, Bhutan. Consultant to Scott Wilson Kirkparik

As urban planning expert, I was mandated to assess the area improvement programme being undertaken with World Bank funds. Six areas of varying sizes were selected for implementation of the Thimphu Master Plan. Evaluation criteria emphasis was on equity, economy, implementability and long term sustainability.  Particular attention was on conserving the ecology and heritage of Thimphu. 

Asian Development Bank Technical Assistance for Planning of Vientiene, Laos.Consultant to CES.

 The TA was for formulating planning guidelines, designing commensurate development of infrastructure of roads, water supply, sewerage and drainage while conserving the ecology of the city. Detailed existing land use base was prepared and each infrastructure option was evaluated against costs and benefits.

ADB PPTA for Jammu and Kashmir – for the cities of Jammu and Srinagar.Consultant to Scott Wilson Kirkparik

ERA was created by J&K government to formulate improvement of infrastructure and ensure implementation and orderly development. ADB TA was to fund the programmes of ERA. Several towns were selected to improve the economy of the State, which included Jammu. Srinagar, Pahalgam, Gulmerg, Anantnag etc. in addition to improving the network of transport infrastructure. Each Plan was visited and improvements recommended.

 

Master Planning for the Integrated Development of Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA), Punjab (with Jurong International, Singapore) Govt. of Punjab. Consultant to Jurong International

The project entailed preparation of perspective plan, with a horizon of 50 years, for the Greater Mohali Area, adjacent to Chandigarh, with an area of approximately 1350 sq km. The work involved a strategic analysis from multiple perspectives, viz. socio-economic, infrastructure and basic services delivery, institutional and financial. It intended to cover all the environmental concerns and core sectors of water supply and sanitation, drainage and improvement of ground water table, solid waste management, apart from transportation and other civic infrastructure.

 

Development of Global Corridor with ten specialized cities along the 137 km KMP corridor in Haryana.Consultant to Scott Wilson Kirkparik

Kundli- Manesar- Palwal is being connected by an orbital expressway circum navigating Delhi. The mandate was to assess the potential development impetus needed and plans made to order judicious use of land. The plan has been accepted by the Government of Haryana.

 

Integrated Development Plan for Garhmukteshwar and Brij Ghat Area, Ghaziabad Development Authority. Consultant to Ghaziabad Development Authority.

The decision of the Ghaziabad Development Authority to prepare an Integrated Development Plan for Garhmukteshwar was a timely initiative to utilize the hitherto untapped development potential of the area. The objectives being to leverage development impulse generated from Delhi in terms of both concentration of people and economic activities, to offer the citizens of Delhi and nearby towns and villages a destination on river Ganga, and to physically accommodate the development impetus, raising its role to that of a regional growth centre. Tanika was involved as a project associate and was responsible for data collection and surveys, stakeholder meeting and analysis, data analysis, preparation of maps and spatial analysis and providing inputs into the report for preparation of development strategy.

Urban Renewal Strategy for Delhi, Delhi Development Authority. Consultant to DDA

 The main objective of the Plan is to improve the environmental condition of the existing areas. Strategy of development management would depend on several factors. On the basis of present study, correlating factors of density, land value, accessibility and infrastructural amenities, certain areas would be identified for detailed planned intervention for urban renewal.
